EDIT: Added a little cheater, tutorial zergling right above your starting position.

Here are basic details: Its a single player RPG, in a hardcore setting. You die its over. Their is no complicated systum for spells or anything, you play your character and a few others who shall help you from time to time. You gain money based on the amount and difficulty of what has been slain by you.

Length: Demo is about 15 minutes long, maybe a bit longer depending on how you play through it.

Map Information: It is created in the Ashworld tile set, you wil adventure through caves and an exotic forest full of preplaced and spawned units, that move around in random, and predictable manners. Their isnt an exact order for how you play through the map, thus leaving it slighly sandbox like. Their is a story line backing up this map, though it is not developed in this demo; as the demo is just the beginning of your adventures. When you first start, head left and in a southern direction. (but not to the forest quite yet) You can get upgrades, but their is a task you must complete first. (HJint: Look at the minimap in screen shots, this is where you need to go)




More interesting reading material/entry to map: Alas another RPG demo, will it be anygood you may ask? Is it worth downloading? I cant be the judge of that so im leaving it up to you!

The demo I am loading here is hopfully short and sweet, (easy 15 minute or longer) leaving you wanting a little more. The map is in the Ash world tile set, with a landscape of hopefully divearse and pleasing to the eye; with caves that twist and turn and can cause a sense of confusion (a fun confusion) a dense forest full of danger, and possible meet a few interesting characters along the way to assist.

You begin in an underground city, their is been evil mischeif about in the caves and outside world for sometime now, and you being young and feeling a little trapped I say, break the rules and sneak into the caves to the west (left of starting position) and begin a journey that sparks a change of peace across the land...but only for awhile. (This is about where the demo ends when it comes to the acual storyline) The minions of evil magic work their way back to the home front and their is no choice but war between your home kingdom (unnamed at the moment, suggestions? lol) and the source of evil. Their is a draft issued; this includes you.... At this point I could go on for awhile with the story, but at this point I will wait.


Their shouldnt be any maijor bugs or issues with the map, I test alot, alot, and alot more. The city defintly needs work. The AI doesnt always function as i want it to, but it functions is for eye-candy only, and not for the acual gameplay.


This map has cool places to explore, so make some money and check out the way the terrians put togeather. Their are no spells or counters to represent money or anything else. The gameplay is simple hunt and make money to afford upgrades, but I wanted the gameplay to be more focused on stratagy slightly and want it to have a mysterious feel as you explore. Its hardcore style, you die its over. (single player) If you have any problems or bugs please let me know. I am open to all opinions about everything, this is my first map period...and first experiance with triggers. Honestly I havent even played many other map, I just went with what I felt was cool. Oh, and Its meant to be played with music of choice, no edited sounds.

Alaska, you're supposed to put the URL of an image into the img tags, not its location in your computer. Alternatively, you can add your screenies to your post as attachments, tho that'll require us to download your screenies to view them.

You should update your OP to match the format Hellfire posted (it's better to post a template next time Hellfire...), and move your screenies to the OP. And since there is like 1 hour 15 mins to map night left and I've secured a log on to US East, I'll try your map :P

The details are contained in my description, I wanted some reading not statistics. Its very early in development, but its nice to know what people like. Before I get to far ahead of myself. I want my map to be enjoyable to play.

I understand, but unfortunately SEN rules require you to include some organized description and details with screenshots when you make a thread for a new map :3

EDIT:
Some feedback:
- The Zerg "city" was pretty large and had pretty much nothing in it, but I guess you're just placing the buildings there as placeholders to add more content in the future.
- There is pretty much no plot being presented to the player at the moment.
- You should give players directions of some kind. I had no idea to do, so I just got out of town (after 2 minutes trying to figure out where the exit is) and went around killing things.
- I don't know if it's intended, but giving the player 7 armor at the start is a bit too much, it results in too little dmg being dealt by enemy units. I suggest you lower the armor and raise the max HP.
- I guess the Lair/Hive (still can't remember which name belongs to which, derp) in the screenshot was intended for upgrades, but when I came up to it, nothing happened. Maybe it was because I didn't have enough resources. Even so, you should still display some kind of message or change the Lair/Hive's name so that players can tell it's for upgrading.
- You misspelled a few things :P
- Unless you intend this map to be hack n slash, you should devise a way for players to get stronger (i.e. leveling up, put HP caps for each level, abilities, etc.) as well as add more zones with increasing difficulty. Even if this is intended to be pure hack n slash, you should still make upgrades cheaper and let there be more variation in enemy difficulty to spice up the map.

Anyways, these are the few things that come to mind. I understand that your map is in its infancy, so those suggestions are meant as suggestions to progress your map, not criticism. Happy mapping ^^

You earn your right for upgrades after you complete a "task"

Definitly nothing in the city...

Difficulty picks up relativly quick....just have to find it lol.

To get to what I acually want the player to see, head left untill you find the exit, travel south, find your way east. Listen to the zegling who gives you advice.(not his first message, kinda just an intro) Listen to any messages that pop up; their hints more or less to "try this" and "do this first"

If you want to become prey, head south untill you find the forest. (dont know if this is too hard, or easy)
